The Grandparents’ Blog

A lighthearted look at grandparenting and retirement

Our New Photo Gallery

I have replaced our blog site photo album content with all new photos in two new categories “My Floral Favourites” and “My Scenic favourites”. I will add more categories later and I will try to refresh the favourites as often as I can.  Ii love seeing other people’s favourites and I will add a guest category if if any are sent to us.

We did see a great collection of birds photographed in Mary Lennon Wylie’s back garden.  She sent us the link to her photos.  See Mary’s birds!

We have used NextGen to manage and present the Gallery of photos.  We think it works well but remembering how to configure it, when you don’t use it that often, is a challenge for an OAP!

We hope you enjoy these photos, almost all were taken by Connie, with one or two by John, Sue or Edna.

Grandparents Relax

Alvor 2009 026  After several hectic weeks decorating our home and our son’s home we really looked forward to a restful two weeks in the Algarve.  By shear chance we booked into a hotel near the quiet fishing village of Alvor.  It truly was very relaxing and restful, right on the long, wide beach.  We took frequent strolls into the village and along the beach with a few refreshment stops!  One of the jewels of our stay was the local boating firm “Alvor Boat Trips“.

William Forsyth Davison 1914-1992

bill2 Who was our greatgrandpa, the founder of our nomadic branch of the Clan Davison?

Known to all as Bill – he was born in 1914 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Bill’s father, George, was a plumber but not much is known about him. Bill’s mother Sarah Jane (Adams), known as Jenny, was a seamstress and worked in a tailor shop in Newcastle.
